Bokeh is a Japanese word - the transliteration of a Japanese word for "blur" (from wordiq.com) and describes the out-of-focus areas produced by a lens. The 70-200 f/2.8 Nikkor lens is well known for having fantastic bokeh... giving a creamy appearance to everything not in focus. You would never guess there was a split rail fence about 20 feet back from the plane of focus in this shot.
