I'm glad they put a sign up pointing out exactly where the crater is... because with the low hanging clouds you would never have known. The ground elevation here was around 6000 feet as I recall and the cone extended up another 1000 feet, of which we could see maybe 25 feet.
Gina and the kids did a short trail and then headed back to the car with teeth chattering. I went ahead and did the longer trail. That is the base of the cone in the background.
It was easy to tell that this entire area had been recently (geologically speaking) transformed by the volcano.
