It is incredible that trees can grow here!
Our intrepid videography doing his thing. *** The middle of the hike was mostly along the floor of the canyon and we had lunch in a nice shady area. I think Kyle had reached his vacation hiking limit by this point. He wanted to go back to the hotel and swim. Our standard routine was to be "out-and-about" during the day and then the kids could swim all evening if they wanted. He didn't want to wait. *** Once he realized the only way back to the hotel was to hike back up and out, he continued to plod on. The Queens trail gets fairly steep near the end. About halfway up the steep section he stopped, head hung low, and proclaimed "he couldn't go on". Contrary to that comment, he did plod on. When he realized we came out of the canyon at sunrise point, and the truck was parked a half mile away at sunset point, he nearly had a cow. Needless to say, I went back and got the truck and picked everyone else up.
