What a wife! She hikes with me, puts up with me lugging camera equipment all over the place, and still smiles. Ever since her aneurysm we have cherished every minute we have together. This has been one of our best vacations ever.
A last trip to the fast food diner for some frozen low-fat yogurt and a few minutes without the kids (we left them locked in the room while we went next door to this place).
Our final "big" (and longest) travel day. This time heading for 2 nights in Sedona on our way back to Phoenix. Got up at 7:00 only to find our wing of the hotel had no hot water. Nothing like a cold shower to wake you up. I went to check out and found that everyone who had been attending a hunting or gun convention at the hotel was also checking out. After finally getting to the counter, I ask what kind of discount there is for no hot water. The rather overwhelmed looking manager at the next counter position overhears and asks "what room is he in?". I tell him and he asks what I think a fair discount would be. I turn the question around to him and he offers $20 off. Sounds fair to me for a few minutes of cold water. *** Of course the people around me overheard all this... most were wearing camouflage pants with 28 pockets on them and literally looked like they were dressed to kill. The guy on my right says "You know I didn't have any hot water either" and then the guy 2 spots down makes a similar statement. I quickly signed the bill and left. *** On the way to Sedona we voted Gina as camerawoman to get some video of the roads and terrain we had been driving through. She is not familar with the camcorder so every time we would say "shoot this" or "get that" she would fumble the camcorder out of its bag, turn it on, and then exclaim "there is something wrong with it". Seems she would always press some button that put it into the wrong mode. *** At one point she said "everything is just black". I told her to hand it to Ryan so he could figure it out and he quickly pointed out that taking the lens cap off usually helps.
