It is now nearly 7:00 and we are starting to get really hungry. I think I know where a KFC may be near the capitol so we head off on the subway again. We start walking and can tell be the addresses we have a long way to go (I wrote the address down). I spy some official looking guards guarding and official looking garage and ask them how far the KFC is. The guy says it is way down on Capitol St and that "You don't want to go down there" (and I don't think he was referring to the distance). Ready to drop to our knees and beg for the secret of finding food in Washington, we plea with him to point us to food. "Union Station is where you want to go". Great, all the way on the other side of the Capitol. *** Oh well, the Library of Congress is open until 9:30 and I wanted to see if they really have 530 miles of shelves with 18 million items (I'm going to count them). Off we go, probably coming up on the 5 or 6 mile mark for walking today.
The Library of Congress. Very impressive looking building. Very closed looking building. Ryan and I go up to the door. That $@!#%$ web site lied- they are not open until 9:30, at least on Friday nights. I can't even see a single book through the windows. Fine, let's get food.
I think about suing Washington DC for not having anything open or tickets available but of course the Supreme Court is... closed.
