For our last day we get up and head off to the Holocaust Museum. This time our wait in line is rewarded with ID/passes to get in at 11:45. It is about 10:45 so we just wait at the museum. The tour was very interesting, especially seeing pictures of the Dachau concentration camp we toured while in Germany. The horrors of that era are all too graphically captured in this Museum. *** Next we head on to the American History Museum... in search of Archie Bunker's chair and other important memorabelia like a phaser from Star Trek. This museum was one of the most interesting we saw. Very detailed exhibits on electricity, machinery, computers, etc. MY kind of history!
After the museum we have just enough time to get back to the airport, change into the required formal attire for standby travel, and grab a quick, overpriced $18 dessert. *** All in all it was a great blast through Washington. The weather was perfect. The food was... nonexistant or overpriced, but we made a lot of great memories!
