Surprisingly the areas to the south of us had already reached that "just after peak" point where there are more leaves on the ground than in the trees so it was not as scenic as we had hoped. The best colors seemed to be more up north towards Stowe. *** We stopped at Moss Falls (yes, there are two Moss Falls in Vermont, only about 60 miles apart and on the same road!). This part of the Green Mountains were still in full fall color.
In the Moss Falls parking lot one of the many maple syrup vendors was selling syrup. This was a really nice guy who gave us samples of each "grade" of syrup and enlightened us on the differences. We purchased a couple bottles from him as souvenirs.
